Baseball Recap: Jefferson Gets the Win

Jefferson lost to Denison-Schleswig back in June of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Monarchs by a score of 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Jefferson gave Aiden Moore the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Moore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jefferson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Anderson is becoming a predictor of the Yellowjackets' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 8-26 when he doesn't).

Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 12-27. As for Denison-Schleswig, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will face off against Glenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denison-Schleswig, they will head out to square off against Bishop Heelan Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Monarchs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
