Baseball Recap: Borah Lions vs. Kuna Kavemen

Borah had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it six. They fell 10-5 to the Kuna Kavemen. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 4-1 to the Kavemen when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cooper Lawatch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Owen Preboski also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Kuna, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Kuna's side, Bergan Overall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Overall has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Tucker Sullivan looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Kuna is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Woodson Murray was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Max Sperry was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Borah will take on rival Meridian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Kuna is set to square off against their familiar foe Capital at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
