Basketball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Taft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 54-46 to the O'Connor Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 724th, while the Panthers are ranked 168th).

It was another big night for Hagen Hurst, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 16 points in addition to three steals and three blocks for O'Connor. Hurst's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Herrera, who posted ten points along with five assists and three steals.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 6-26. As for O'Connor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season.

Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for O'Connor, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers challenge the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Connor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
