Basketball Recap: Jefferson County Takes a Loss

Jefferson County lost against Maryville back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jefferson County Patriots lost 67-47 to the Maryville Red Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Red Rebels are ranked tenth).

Brayden Hazelbaker had an outrageously good game for Maryville as he went 9 of 11 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Sigmund, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Jefferson County's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Maryville, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Jefferson County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-47 victory against Knoxville Central on the 6th. As for Maryville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-42 win against Heritage on the 7th.
