Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. Rowan County Vikings
The Russell Red Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Rowan County Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on March 6th.
Last Friday, Russell ended up a good deal behind Greenup County and lost 59-42. Russell has struggled against Greenup County recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Caleb Rimmer, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Neel, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Rowan County waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They had just enough and edged Fleming County out 56-54.
Dashawn Watson was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season.
Russell's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Rowan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season.
Russell came up short against Rowan County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 73-63. Can Russell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
