Baseball Recap: Mesquite Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mesquite walked away with it. They skirted past the Estrella Foothills Wolves 2-1. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

Cooper Leroy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mesquite's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jensen Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Kash Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Mesquite has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Estrella Foothills, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12.

Mesquite wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-10 win against Cactus Shadows on the 3rd. Estrella Foothills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
