Softball Preview: Elgin Comets vs. North Baltimore Tigers

The Elgin Comets will challenge the North Baltimore Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Elgin's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Perry as they made off with a 10-0 victory.

Addison Clevenger was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracelyn Edmonstone, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Elgin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, North Baltimore was able to grind out a solid win over Allen East on Tuesday, taking the game 11-7.

Kenzey Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Young was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nevaeh DeWitt and Jayme Zeigler did most of the damage at the plate: DeWitt got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Zeigler went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that Zeigler has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Trout, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for North Baltimore, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
