Soccer Game Preview: Mesa vs. Mountain Ridge

The Mesa Jackrabbits will take on the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mesa will be strutting in after a win while Mountain Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.

Mountain Ridge will be up against a hot Mesa team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Mesa came out on top in a nail-biter against Dobson on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. Given the Jackrabbits' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Mustangs are ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ivan Soto and Evan Romero scored both of Mesa's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Millennium on Friday and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Mountain Lions have lost by just one goal.

Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Mountain Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4-1.

Mesa beat Mountain Ridge 2-0 in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Does Mesa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
