Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Monmouth United's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nazareth Academy, Monmouth United was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans. For the Red Storm, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 victory the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Ian Leffler, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Elliott Copeland was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Monmouth United has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Annawan-Wethersfield, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monmouth United will venture away from home to take on Galva at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Storm are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Annawan-Wethersfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Farmers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
