Basketball Game Preview: South Rebels vs. Hoover Vikings

The South Rebels will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Hoover Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, South took a blow against Strongsville, falling 78-48. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 574th, while the Mustangs are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Hoover was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 52-51 to GlenOak. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

South's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

South suffered a grim 66-45 defeat to Hoover when the teams last played back in February. Can South avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
