Soccer Game Preview: Spartanburg Day vs. Landrum

The Spartanburg Day Griffins are taking a road trip to take on the Landrum Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spartanburg Day's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Spartanburg Day needed a bit of extra time to put away Greenwood Christian. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Griffins who were credited with the victory. Spartanburg Day got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Greenwood Christian's two.

Landrum is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Gaffney on Wednesday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 6-0. The defeat continues a trend for Landrum in their meetings with Gaffney: they've now lost five in a row.

Spartanburg Day's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Landrum, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Spartanburg Day skirted past Landrum 1-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Griffins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
