Preview: Florence vs. Richland
Florence will challenge Richland on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. The team will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Friday, Florence were close but not close enough as they fell 25-28 to Kosciusko. Junior Ian Vaughn and senior Degerrick Lee were two go-getters for Florence despite the loss. The former picked up 95 yards on the ground and accumulated 176 passing yards, while the latter rushed for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Richland's and Lake's matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but Richland were thoroughly outmatched in the second half. Richland found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 21-47 punch to the gut against Lake. Richland were down by 21-41 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Florence took their match against Richland the last time the two teams met by a conclusive 52-25 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florence since the team won't have home-field advantage. Watch the game and check back on MaxPreps to see if the change in venue makes a difference.
