Baseball Recap: Fostoria's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Fostoria took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Port Clinton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redmen narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Redskins 4-3. This was payback for the Redmen, who suffered a 14-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Devon Miller spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fostoria is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-21 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Trent Smith was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Barrett Hernandez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Fostoria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Clinton only managed five hits.

With the victory, Fostoria broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-22. As for Port Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.

Fostoria has already played their next match, a 4-0 defeat against Edison on the 24th. Port Clinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
