Football Game Preview: Cedar Park Timberwolves vs. Wakeland Wolverines + How To Watch

The Cedar Park Timberwolves will challenge the Wakeland Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cedar Park's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last nine games.

Cedar Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Tyler by a score of 50-43. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Lions are ranked 483rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Trae Samuel Frost Hill produced another solid effort rushing for 374 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 78-yard run. David Cooper also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cedar Park was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 488 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Wakeland strolled past Newman Smith with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Wakeland's win came from a few key players Cedar Park will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lucas Mangham, who picked up 108 receiving yards and three scores. Another player making a difference was Jayden Maples, who threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wakeland's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Edward Selig and Blake Landry, who racked up 4.5 sacks between them. Landry is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another thorn in Newman Smith's side was Austin Wilson, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made six total tackles (3.5 for loss).

Cedar Park's record is now 8-3. As for Wakeland, their record now sits at 10-1.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Cedar Park has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 290.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wakeland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 173.2 rushing yards.
