League recap: Shafter's Parsons delivers best pitching performance from past week

South Sequoia league recap: 5/14/12

Cyrus Parsons was the best pitcher in South Sequoia this week. He accumulated one win and 18 strikeouts.

A. J. Ramirez was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .545 average, two home runs and seven RBIs. His Bakersfield Christian team went 2-1.

The Eagles scored a league-best 35 runs this week, adding to their league-leading 259 runs on the season. Bakersfield Christian's key hitters include Ramirez, who has a team-high 49 runs, and Ramirez, who leads the squad with with 39 RBIs.

Shafter's pitching led the league in strikeouts this week with 51, but Tehachapi's pitchers hold the season lead with 206 Ks. Parsons, who has struck out 91 batters over 56 innings, leads the Generals.



Shafter's Jade Burleson led the league with 10 hits this week. He is seventh in the league with 32 hits this year, and has a .348 batting average.

Jade Burleson went 4-4 as Bakersfield Christian defeated Shafter 18-1 on Wednesday. He also drove in two runners and scored three runs.
