Basketball Game Preview: Stearns Minutemen vs. Katahdin Cougars

Stearns hasn't had much luck against Katahdin recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Stearns Minutemen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Katahdin Cougars at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, Stearns came up short against Piscataquis and fell 60-53.

Meanwhile, Katahdin had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They breezed by the Hornets to the tune of 78-15. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 30 points or more this season.

Katahdin pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.4 points per game. As for Stearns, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Stearns was dealt a bruising 73-23 defeat at the hands of Katahdin in their previous matchup last Thursday. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stearns was down 36-8.
