Central Academy suffers seventh straight loss on the road

Recap: Central Academy Cougars vs. Piedmont Panthers

This season hasn't been kind to the Central Academy Cougars, who are still winless after their 12th match. They took a serious blow against Piedmont on Monday, falling 68-22. Central Academy has not had much luck with Piedmont recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Central Academy had strong showings from Jadah Pringle, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds, and Justice Hegwood, who scored six points along with two steals. That was a full 40.9% of Central Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Emily Polk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Piedmont, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Polk is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played. Landry Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Central Academy's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-12. As for Piedmont, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Central Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Forest Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Monday. As for Piedmont, they will head out on the road to take on Parkwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Parkwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 265 points over their last four matchups.
