Softball Game Preview: St. Anthony Saints vs. Bishop Amat Lancers

For the second straight game, St. Anthony will face off against Bishop Amat. The Saints will venture away from home to challenge the Lancers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anthony comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

St. Anthony came up short against Bishop Amat on Thursday, falling 14-4.

For Bishop Amat's part, Samantha Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Mia Arballo was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Bishop Amat was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 12-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bishop Amat is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for St. Anthony, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
