Soccer Recap: Smithfield Falls Short Against Ranked Menchville

Smithfield faced Menchville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Packers fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2. Smithfield were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Menchville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Smithfield's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3-1. As for Menchville, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Looking ahead, Smithfield will venture away from home to face off against Jamestown at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jamestown's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Smithfield's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Menchville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against First Colonial at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
