Baseball Game Preview: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Central Knights

The East Greenwich Avengers will venture away from home to face off against the Central Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

East Greenwich is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: St. Raphael Academy, who was ranked 15th at the time (East Greenwich was ranked 23rd). The Avengers put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 10-1 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Avengers in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Central had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past West Warwick 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on four straight.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for East Greenwich, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

East Greenwich couldn't quite get it done against Central when the teams last played last Sunday as they fell 5-2. Can the Avengers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
