Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillsdale). They put the hurt on the Woodside Wildcats with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Knights considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Lola Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Taylor O'Mahony was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Sophia Shelton was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Hillsdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
