Baseball Recap: Sterling Comes Up Short

Sterling lost against Paul VI back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Silver Knights fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Silver Knights have lost by just one run.

Sterling saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Lomax, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Gavin McCormick also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Sterling has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season. As for Paul VI, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sterling will square off against Holy Cross at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Paul VI, they will venture away from home to square off against Cherry Hill West at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
