Softball Recap: Branford Hornets vs. Foran Lions
Branford had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it six. They lost 18-0 to the Foran Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.
As for Foran, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 20-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.1 runs this season.
For Foran's part, Abigail Corris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Corris has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double.
In other batting news, Ariella Diorio was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Maddie Deldin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Branford is taking a road trip to square off against Bunnell at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Foran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
