Softball Game Preview: Lowell Devils vs. North Douglas

Lowell hasn't had much luck against North Douglas recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Devils will welcome North Douglas at 4:30 p.m. Lowell has given up an average of 13.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lowell lost 14-4 to Oakland on Wednesday.

Gracie Aldinger was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddy Thurman, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, North Douglas had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering North Douglas has won 11 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

North Douglas' win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average this season. As for Lowell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
