Softball Game Preview: Eldorado Eagles vs. Benton Rangers

Eldorado is 0-4 against Benton since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. Eldorado will square off against Benton at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Eldorado is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Pope County, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, Benton didn't have quite enough to beat Centralia on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Rangers haven't had much luck with the Orphans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Malia Webb (2025) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Jaycee Webb (2027) was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Webb (2025) wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Benton lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post two or more home runs.

Benton's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Eldorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Eldorado suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Benton when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can Eldorado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
