Preview: Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators vs. Baker Gators
Gulf Pointe Latin is 0-3 against Baker since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Baker Gators at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Gulf Pointe Latin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Thursday, Gulf Pointe Latin didn't have too much trouble with Aletheia Christian Academy at home as they won 52-37. With that win, Gulf Pointe Latin brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Luthin, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Crumpler, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Baker's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 45-38 to Northview.
Gulf Pointe Latin's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Gulf Pointe Latin came up short against Baker when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 58-49. Can Gulf Pointe Latin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
