Volleyball Recap: West Mesa Mustangs vs. Organ Mountain Knights

On Tuesday, the West Mesa Mustangs came up short against the Organ Mountain Knights and fell 3-1.

West Mesa actually scored more points across those four sets (92-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-20, 13-25, 25-22.

Loss or not, West Mesa got some senior leadership from Aresha Silver and Leanne Chavez. Silver had nine digs, three blocks, and two kills, while Chavez had 18 digs. With that strong performance, Chavez is now averaging an impressive 10.3 digs per game. Another player making a difference was Marah Perea, who had eight digs and three kills.

Organ Mountain found their leader in underclassman Gabi Venegas, who had 12 digs and two aces.

West Mesa has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Organ Mountain, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.
