Volleyball Recap: Waverly Extends Winning Streak to Four

It's playoff time, and Waverly had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Gretna Dragons with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Dragons back in September, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Gracie Lauenstein paced Waverly's offense, picking up 16 kills. Lauenstein got some help from McKinley Moser and her 43 assists. Emmalyn Quinn controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

When it comes to explaining why Gretna lost, don't look at Lily Zimmerman. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and one assist. Zimmerman has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played. Kyla Gangwish also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The win (which was Waverly's fourth in a row) raised their record to 30-5. As for Gretna, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 27-7 record.

Waverly has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Norris on the 7th. Gretna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
