Basketball Recap: Niobrara County Comes Up Short

Niobrara County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southeast Cyclones on Saturday. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Niobrara County still got an impressive performance from Gracie ZumBrunnen, who posted five points and seven steals.

Even though they lost, Niobrara County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 14 consecutive contests.

Niobrara County suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 11-3. As for Southeast, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Niobrara County Tigers duke it out with the Upton Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southeast, they will face off against Lingle-Fort Laramie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lingle-Fort Laramie will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Southeast surely won't give up without a fight.
