Vela is a perfect 3-0 against Rowe since November of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Sabercats will host the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Vela sitting on four straight victories and Rowe on three.
Vela had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 52-point drubbing they dealt Juarez-Lincoln on Thursday. The Sabercats blew past the Huskies 52-0. The Sabercats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 36 points or more this season.
Vela got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was George Fauls out in front who picked up 58 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Tristian Cortinas was another key back, rushing for 41 yards and a pair of scores.
Vela was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Vela's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. It was truly a group effort as Cristian Pena, Jeremy Ramirez, and Trey Rodriguez picked up two apiece. Ramirez has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last seven times he's played.
Meanwhile, Rowe won against Juarez-Lincoln back in September with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Warriors took their game with ease, bagging a 49-21 victory over Rio Grande City. With the Warriors ahead 28-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Vela better keep an eye on Alexander Lopez Negrete. He was instrumental in Rowe's win, rushing for 133 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries. Lopez Negrete's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Jose Jimenez, who rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries.
Vela's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Rowe, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Vela took their win against Rowe when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 40-14 score. In that matchup, the Sabercats amassed a halftime lead of 27-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
