Basketball Game Preview: Hunter Wolverines vs. Taylorsville Warriors

Two dominant guards in Dominick Phanolath and Kobe Allen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Hunter Wolverines will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Taylorsville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Hunter turned things around against West Jordan on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 79-57 margin over the Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wolverines have posted since November 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Taylorsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They snuck past Kearns with a 56-50 win on Friday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Warriors were the better team in the second half.

Hunter better keep an eye on Allen. He was instrumental in Taylorsville's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Allen's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Johnson, who posted nine points.

Taylorsville's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Hunter, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.

Hunter came up short against Taylorsville when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 62-56. Can Hunter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
