Basketball Recap: Lafayette Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Lafayette had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 56-45 win over the Poquoson Islanders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 47-45 back in January.

Lafayette's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kordell London, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points and five assists. London has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Daniel Jackson, who went 5-for-6 en route to 10 points.

Lafayette smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Lafayette's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points over those games. As for Poquoson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette will square off against Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette is facing Tabb at the right time seeing as Tabb is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Poquoson, they will take on Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bruton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
