Preview: Bloomington North Cougars vs. Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots
Bloomington North has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bloomington North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Bloomington North beat Edgewood 57-47. Given Bloomington North's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Edgewood is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bloomington North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Robbennolt led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Robbennolt has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Robbennolt, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Terre Haute North Vigo suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Brownsburg 58-19. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Terre Haute North Vigo in their matchups with Brownsburg: they've now lost six in a row.
Bloomington North pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.
Everything came up roses for Bloomington North against Terre Haute North Vigo in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 58-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bloomington North since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
