Longview picks up 11th straight win at home

Recap: Longview Lobos vs. Tyler Lions

The Longview Lobos had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They strolled past Tyler with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. Given Longview's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Tyler is ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Robert Blandburg was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chris Head, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Longview pushed their record up to 29-3 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Tyler, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.

Longview will head out on the road to take on Hallsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hallsville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 277 points over their last four matchups. As for Tyler, they will be playing at home against Mt. Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
