Softball Preview: Marlboro Academy Dragons vs. Thomas Sumter Academy Generals
The Marlboro Academy Dragons will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, everything went Marlboro Academy's way against Christ the Cornerstone Academy as Marlboro Academy made off with a 17-1 win.
Addison Ratley was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Miller, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Thomas Sumter Academy got themselves on the board against Florence Christian on Thursday, but Florence Christian never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 6-0 victory.
Kason Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Carter has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Carter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lila Kate Stines and Ryann Stokes did most of the damage at the plate: Stines scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Stokes went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Amy Spivey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
