Softball Game Preview: Monroeville Eagles vs. Mohawk Warriors

The Monroeville Eagles will square off against the Mohawk Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Monroeville 2.6, Mohawk 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mohawk will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Monroeville extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Eagles came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against St. Paul.

Rachel Fries and Taryn Tyler did most of the damage at the plate: Fries went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Tyler went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Fries has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Madison Reiber, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mohawk didn't have quite enough to beat Wynford on Wednesday and fell 8-7.

Katie Woodland was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Blake Miller was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Mohawk has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-4 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Monroeville, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
