Baseball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Triumphs

While La Jolla Country Day's victory against Francis Parker wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Torreys skirted past the Lancers 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Torreys in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won six in a row.

Jamie Onaitis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because La Jolla Country Day is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, La Jolla Country Day let Mitch Circuit and Jackson Norum run wild. Circuit went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Norum scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Norum a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Rock, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The victory got La Jolla Country Day back to even at 8-8. As for Francis Parker, they moved to 5-5-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

La Jolla Country Day will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
