Basketball Recap: St. Genevieve Comes Up Short

St. Genevieve was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Torrance Tartars. While losing is never fun, the Valiants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Tartars are ranked 264th).

St. Genevieve's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Torrance, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Genevieve and Glendale will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Glendale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Torrance will take on El Segundo in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Torrance knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully El Segundo likes a good challenge.
