Football Recap: Ribault Takes a Loss

The matchup between Ribault and Andrew Jackson on Monday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Ribault Trojans fell just short of the Andrew Jackson Tigers by a score of 32-30. The Trojans have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Ribault didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jazmine Epperson. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Andrew Jackson found their leader in sophomore Araniya Riggins, who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most passing touchdowns Riggins has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Laila Moreland, who rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Ribault's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Andrew Jackson, their record is now 2-3.

Coming up, Ribault will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Fernandina Beach at 6:00 p.m. on March 10th. As for Andrew Jackson, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 25-0 defeat against Riverside on the 4th.
