Baseball Recap: South Warren Takes Down Ranked Bowling Green

South Warren faced Bowling Green in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Spartans came out on top against the Purples by a score of 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Purples: they've now won four in a row.

Mikey Coradini tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gray Pearson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Griffin Rardin was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

South Warren pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Bowling Green, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

South Warren will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Purples: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
