Soccer Game Preview: Marshall vs. El Monte

The Marshall Eagles will take on the El Monte Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshall's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Marshall and Rosemead, and Rosemead kept the tradition alive. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Panthers on Monday.

Meanwhile, El Monte has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 16. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arroyo on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, El Monte can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 885th, while Arroyo are ranked 148th).

El Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11-1. As for Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8-2.

Marshall got the 'W' when the teams last played back in December of 2025 against El Monte by a conclusive 4-1 score. In that matchup, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 4-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
