Softball Game Preview: Georgetown-Ridge Farm Buffaloes vs. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights

Georgetown-Ridge Farm is 0-5 against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Buffaloes are taking a road trip to take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Georgetown-Ridge Farm is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Georgetown-Ridge Farm came up short against Villa Grove and fell 7-3. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chloe Stephenson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Stephenson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton McComas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. McComas has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond came up short against Meridian on Monday, falling 11-3. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

ANNA RAWLINS made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was MACKENZIE CONDILL, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm's record is now 2-5. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, their record now sits at 2-6.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm might still be hurting after the 15-6 loss they got from Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
