Volleyball Recap: Tough Loss for Orestimba

Orestimba was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Escalon Cougars, falling 3-0.

While Orestimba was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Escalon's winning margin in every set. The final set scores came out to 25-10, 25-11, 25-12.

Orestimba has now lost 10 of their last 11 games on the road. That leaves them at a 4-7 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 Sonora and 3-1 Hilmar (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.8% over those games). As for Escalon, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Orestimba is set to challenge their familiar foe Hughson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Escalon will face off against their in-conference opponent Ripon Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
