There's no place like home for Independence, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Thursday. They blew past the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves 14-1 on Tuesday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six  runs or more this season.
 Sam Crooks made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out nine batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  earning two  RBI, two  runs,  and two  stolen bases.
 In other batting news,  Owen Jenks was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three  doubles, two  runs,  and two  RBI. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in April of 2024.  Ronin Tschetter was another key player,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
 Independence was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuyahoga Heights only posted a  batting average of  .125.
Independence's victory was  their seventh straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 8-1. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 16.9 runs over those games. As for Cuyahoga Heights,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 5-4.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Red Wolves beat Independence by a score of  2-1 on Wednesday.
