Baseball Recap: Newman Smith Comes Up Short

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Wakeland Wolverines, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Wednesday.

Newman Smith's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Wakeland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6-2.

Looking ahead, Newman Smith will be playing at home against The Colony at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wakeland, they will challenge Highland Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scots will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
