The Maple Shade Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against Doane Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Maple Shade's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Willingboro with a sharp 27-0 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Chimeras recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Mackenzie Myers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Maple Shade let Madeline Sylvia and Melayna Bowman run wild. Sylvia went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Bowman went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Bowman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alivia Diebert, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Maple Shade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
While Doane Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Pemberton 17-6 on Monday.
Raegan Portadin made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Hannah Gusrang was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Jailyn Glass was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Doane Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Maple Shade, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maple Shade hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .421. However, it's not like Doane Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maple Shade suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Doane Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
