Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Trojans vs. Geneseo Blue Devils

The Alexander Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Geneseo Blue Devils at 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexander knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Geneseo likes a good challenge.

Alexander is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They took down Gananda Central 75-61.

Meanwhile, Geneseo had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 46-37. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Rams are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexander better keep an eye on Oren Ray. He was instrumental in Geneseo's win, shooting 60% from the field on his way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Ray has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Willis, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Geneseo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Alexander's record is now 8-2. As for Geneseo, their record is now 18-4.

Alexander came up short against Geneseo in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 39-31. Can Alexander avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
