Basketball Recap: Sage Hill Takes a Loss

Sage Hill was the 59-52 winner over Mission Viejo when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lightning took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Diablos on Wednesday. The Lightning have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Damian Navarro continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mission Viejo, putting up 25 points. Navarro is becoming a predictor of the Diablos' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 4-2 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Koedel, who posted 12 points.

Sage Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mission Viejo, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Sage Hill will take on Corona del Mar at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lightning will need to watch out since the Sea Kings have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mission Viejo, they will face off against Great Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Diablos will be up against the Wolfpack's rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.78 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
