Preview: Columbus Falcons vs. Neshoba Central Rockets
The Columbus Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Neshoba Central Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Columbus has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Neshoba Central will arrive with 19 straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Columbus ended up a good deal behind Callaway and lost 44-28. While losing is never fun, Columbus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Callaway is ranked 22nd).
Meanwhile, Neshoba Central beat Germantown 56-49 on Saturday.
Neshoba Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyli Truss led the charge by scoring 17 points. Another player making a difference was Katelin Williams, who scored 12 points.
Columbus bumped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Neshoba Central, their victory bumped their record up to 21-1.
Columbus was dealt a bruising 77-34 defeat at the hands of Neshoba Central when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Columbus was down 46-19.
