The Jordan Falcons will take on the Leesville Road Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jordan is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Willow Spring: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Falcons blew the Storm out of the water with a 43-3 final score. The victory was just business as usual for the Falcons, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Jordan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Melton, who threw for 196 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 80 yards on only 11 carries. Damien Hayes was another key back, rushing for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Jordan's run defense was locked in: Willow Spring could only muster three yards per carry. The team can thank Ryan Smith for the heroic effort on defense: he. Jordan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.3.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Leesville Road rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Capitals 49-12. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-7.
Leesville Road's win came from a few key players Jordan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Damacio Cueto, who threw for 179 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards and one score. His passing game has become a key predictor of Leesville Road's success: the team is 7-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Akshar Barnes, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries.
Leesville Road didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adam Sonye and Jacob Edwards. Edwards has been hot, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last five times he's played.
Jordan's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Leesville Road, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
